8th Online Singing Contest 2024

I am delighted to invite opera singers to join the online competition I have been running since 2016 to support young vocalists worldwide.
Starting with the upcoming contest, you will find all the conditions here on my page, and I will wholeheartedly appreciate you sharing this information. Good luck!

Conditions

1. Opera singers from any country aged 18 to 40 who are currently students or graduates of music education institutions can participate in this online competition.

2. In order to participate, the candidate must record a video specially for the competition, and upload it via an open or closed YouTube link. Videos are accepted between October 1, 2023, and March 1, 2024. In the video, the candidate must perform THREE pieces, accompanied by the piano:
1) One opera aria of your choice;
2) One romance (by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Dvořák, Lysenko, Debussy, Ravel, Lyatoshinsky, or Mahler) of your choice;
3) A folk song of the country represented by the participant, arranged for voice and piano, or a cappella.

3. The entire program must be performed by memory, and opera arias must be performed in the original key. The video must be recorded in good quality and without any editing: the candidate must perform all pieces in one take. The singer must be visible in the video at their full height.

4. All documents (passport, diplomas/student ID) along with the video of the performance must be sent by March 1, 2024, 23:59 (CET Time) to the email mezzo@lenabelkina.com with the subject “online competition”.

5. I will announce the results on my YouTube channel on April 1, 2024. It is recommended to subscribe to the channel now to receive notifications and to avoid missing the announcement of the winner.

6. The winner will receive a reward of €1,000, which will be transferred to the bank account of the winner within two weeks after the announcement.

7. All the singers will be evaluated by the jury consisting of me, Olena Leser, Doctor of Arts at the University of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig, and Anna Samuil, professor at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin.
